Job Description

The Newburgh Enlarged City School District has anticipated vacancy(s) for a Teacher on Special Assignment – Transformation Specialist.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  1. New York State Permanent Teacher Certification
  2. Minimum five  (5 ) years of experience in the field of education
  3. Experience working with diverse student populations
  4. Experience working with teachers and administrators as a professional development provider, team leader and/or facilitator preferred 
  5. An established history of increasing learning gains as a teacher or instructional coach
  6. Demonstrate an in depth knowledge of Language Arts/Reading content and principles of effective reading instruction and/or an in depth knowledge of Mathematics
  7. Experience working with ENL and Special Education populations preferred

 

JOB GOAL:   To support the implementation of the School Comprehensive Education Plans in each TSI and CSI school by providing direct, classroom embedded instructional coaching that will lead to each school achieving their annual measures of improvement.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research, identify and support the implementation of effective school transformation models, programs and interventions to improve reading and mathematics achievement.

 

  • Maintain a current knowledge base in the areas of curriculum and instruction, best practices in education, special education, strategies for school improvement, strategies for closing the achievement gap, and the use of data to inform instruction.

 

  • Coordinate lesson plan design and support classroom teachers to develop rigorous standards based lessons.

 

  • Utilize a coaching model to implement the school selected evidence based instructional practice and ensure teacher success that leads to improved student learning.

 

  • Spend a minimum of 80% of the week working with classroom teachers to improve instructional delivery.

 

  • Assist classroom teachers with the interpretation of student assessment data and supporting the teacher in planning appropriate lessons to support the academic needs of students.

 

  • Participates in professional development opportunities relating to school transformation and then provides turn-key support in assigned schools.

 

 

  • Meet weekly with the Director of Planning and Accountability to develop a weekly support calendar, reflect on coaching and support provided during the previous week and prioritize future work.

 

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Planning and Accountability.
